Pro skater Erik Ellington and the Easy Does It team came to Even Odds with a clear vision: “Vintage Budweiser meets Liquid Death.”

They knew exactly how they wanted the brand to feel, rooted in skate, music and counterculture, but needed the commercial strategy, packaging, pricing and retail roadmap to turn that vision into a scalable beverage business.

This wasn't another wellness-focused non-alcoholic brand. It was built for people who still enjoy the ritual and culture of drinking beer, they just don't want the alcohol.

The founders had a logo, a tagline and a strong creative point of view. What they didn't have yet was a complete system for taking the brand to market.

Building that system without losing what made Easy Does It different was the job in front of us.

THinking

Build the commercial foundation.

Before designing for the shelf, we focused on how the brand would win there.

We worked with the team to rationalize the portfolio around two hero SKUs, establish launch priorities and build a phased rollout beginning in Southern California.

The channel strategy mattered. Independent retailers valued the brand story and Erik's credibility within skate and music culture. Grocery and chain retailers needed velocity, margin and a clear reason to give the brand shelf space.

That distinction shaped the route to market: build credibility through independents, establish proof of concept and use that momentum to pursue regional and national chains.

Pricing followed the same logic. Rather than starting with production cost and hoping the economics worked, we worked backward from the target shelf price, accounting for retailer margin and distributor economics, to land on the cost structure needed to build a sustainable business.

Making

Translate the vision into a retail-ready brand.

With the commercial foundation in place, we translated the founders' vision into a brand built for the shelf.

The direction was clear: vintage beer cues without feeling nostalgic for nostalgia's sake. Original Brew American Style and Original Gold Mexican Style became the foundation, with a packaging system designed to feel authentic to skate and beer culture while still standing apart in a modern retail set.

And it couldn't stop at the can.

The visual system needed to carry through buyer presentations, retail displays, advertising and future brand extensions so Easy Does It showed up consistently wherever consumers or retailers encountered it.

The result was a brand that stayed true to the founders' original vision while being ready to compete at retail.

Doing

Turn the strategy into distribution.

A strong brand and strategy only matter if they translate to the shelf.

Even Odds helped Easy Does It move from launch planning into retail execution: buyer targeting, presentations and line reviews, pricing alignment, promotional programming and expansion strategy.

Easy Does It doesn't run through a traditional distributor network the way most beverage brands do. It's self-distributed, which means there's no distributor sales force keeping every authorized door stocked and set.

We took that work on directly, tracking distribution store by store through each reset, confirming deliveries and resolving the day-to-day issues that come with building a route to market outside the traditional three-tier system.

That groundwork turned into real distribution.

Albertsons Vons Pavilions authorized both Original Brew and Original Gold, expanding the brand beyond its original test doors. BevMo approved Original Brew across its California footprint. Bristol Farms and Lazy Acres approved both SKUs together, extending the brand into another important group of Southern California retailers.

Thinking + Making + Doing

Built to work together.

Easy Does It didn't need three different partners for strategy, creative and retail execution.

It needed one system connecting all three.

The commercial strategy informed the creative. The creative gave the sales story something tangible. And the execution turned that work into distribution, even without a traditional distributor behind it.

"Even Odds have been phenomenal to work with from our first interaction, helping us get our footing in the bev-alc industry and partnering with us on growing the brand and advising on strategy, route to market, and best-in-class creative."
